We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Fleet Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, repair, and service company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment. The successful candidate will help ensure the company fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational while minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and inspections on company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and related issues.
- Perform oil changes, lubrication, brake repairs, tire changes, fluid checks, and other routine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, exhaust, cooling, and fuel systems.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and mechanical deficiencies.
- Complete repairs and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance performed.
- Identify potential mechanical problems before they result in costly breakdowns or downtime.
- Coordinate with management regarding major repairs, parts requirements, and equipment downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Ensure tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic equipment are properly maintained.
- Assist with emergency or breakdown repairs when required.
- Perform other mechanical and maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a fleet, automotive, heavy-duty, or general mechanic.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working on trucks, trailers, construction equipment, or other commercial vehicles is an asset.
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines is an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy parts and equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions when required.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Primarily based in a company shop or maintenance facility, with occasional field or roadside repairs.
- Work involves standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Must follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
