Job summary

Atkinson Construction seeks a General Labourer to support site operations and assist skilled trades and Supervisors on projects in Grande Prairie. You will help maintain a safe, clean jobsite and complete tasks to keep schedules and quality on track.

The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and the ability to follow directions. Training will be provided for tools and safety procedures; experience is helpful, but a willingness to learn is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow instructions and work safely in a construction environment.
• Willingness to learn general construction tasks such as site cleanup, material handling, demolition support, snow removal, and basic concrete prep.

Responsibilities

• Assist with moving projects forward to meet deadlines and quality goals.
• Perform general labour tasks as directed by the Site Supervisor or Foreman.
• Assist skilled trades and ACL staff with daily tasks and site activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times.
• Follow ACL safety policies and Alberta OHS regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or potential issues to a Supervisor.
• Assist with daily safety paperwork, site records, and documentation when requested.
• Monitor and report low first aid or safety supplies to a Supervisor.
• Assist with site setup and teardown, including temporary fencing, hoarding, lighting, power, heat, and air movement.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and progress meetings as required.
• Help orient new workers or subcontractors when directed by a Supervisor.
• Assist with securing the site at the end of the day when required.
• Help monitor tools, equipment, and materials for safety and maintenance concerns.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers regarding task progress, materials needed, or concerns.
• Support deficiency corrections and cleanup as required.
• Demonstrate teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude on site.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

• Follow all Atkinson Construction (ACL) safety policies and Alberta OHS regulations.


• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or potential issues to a Supervisor immediately.


• Assist with daily safety paperwork, site records, and documentation when requested.


• Monitor and report low first aid or safety supplies to a Supervisor.


• Assist with site setup and teardown, including temporary fencing, hoarding, lighting, power, heat, and air movement.
