Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services in Corner Brook is inviting four permanent full-time General Cardiologists to join the Provincial Cardiovascular and Stroke Program. In this role you will provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care within a collaborative interdisciplinary team, with on-call duties shared among physicians.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Provincial Cardiovascular and Stroke (CVS) Program — NL Health Services Western Zone invites applications for four (4) permanent full‑time Cardiologists at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.

The successful candidates will report to the Provincial CVS Program and provide comprehensive cardiology services to patients across the Western Zone, working within a collaborative and well‑supported interdisciplinary team. The positions include both inpatient and outpatient cardiology care, with on‑call coverage shared equitably among the physician group.

Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state‑of‑the‑art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164‑bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

NL Health Services is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and academic interests are encouraged and supported.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Cardiology (or equivalent)
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador ( www.cpsnl.ca )
• Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
• Subspecialty training or interest considered an asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiology services to patients across the Western Zone
• Conduct clinical assessments and provide medical oversight for patients with complex cardiac conditions
• Perform and interpret non‑invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures as applicable
• Participate in on‑call coverage shared equitably among the Cardiology physician group
• Participate in Cardiovascular triage rounds and other provincial CVS Program initiatives
• Participate in traveling clinics as available
• Deliver consultations to referring physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Contribute to the provincial CVS Program mandate through collaborative service delivery and quality improvement
• Contribute to teaching and training of medical learners through the Memorial University affiliation
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• Support person‑and family‑centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, commensurate with level of training and experience.
