NL Health Services – Central Zone invites applications for a Locum Internal Medicine Physician at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, commencing January 2027. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive Internal Medicine services to patients across the Central Zone, working within a collaborative and well-supported interdisciplinary team.

The position includes both inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine care, with on-call coverage shared equitably

Qualifications

  • MD from a recognized institution.
  • Royal College Certification in Internal Medicine (or equivalent).
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL).
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements including criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine services.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and provide medical oversight for patients with complex conditions.
  • Participate in on-call coverage shared equitably among Internal Medicine physicians.
  • Deliver consultations to referring physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals.
  • Support person- and family-centred care and promote patient and worker safety.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Central Zone invites applications for a Locum Internal Medicine Physician at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, commencing January 2027.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive Internal Medicine services to patients across the Central Zone, working within a collaborative and well-supported interdisciplinary team. The position includes both inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine care, with on-call coverage shared equitably among the physician group.

Central Zone is the second largest health zone in NL Health Services, serving approximately 90,000 people across 176 communities. The region extends from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west — encompassing more than half the total land mass of the island of Newfoundland.

Grand Falls-Windsor is a thriving community in the heart of Newfoundland, offering an excellent quality of life with a strong sense of community spirit. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Internal Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador ( www.cpsnl.ca )
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine services
  • Conduct clinical assessments and provide medical oversight for patients with complex medical conditions
  • Participate in on-call coverage shared equitably among the Internal Medicine physician group
  • Deliver consultations to referring physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
