Job summary

ALS Canada Ltd. in Whitehorse, Yukon, is seeking aWarehouse Assistant to support client bottle orders and manage receipt/shipments of samples to our Vancouver lab.

You will organize workloads, maintain a clean environment, and perform data entry in the LIMS system, with strict adherence to safety policies. The role requires strong English communication, basic MS Office skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

  • Good English communication skills (auditory, verbal, writing, reading).
  • Basic MS Office skills and comfort with computers.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well organized with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Valid provincial Class 5 driver's licence with clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Warehouse or fast-paced environment experience is an asset.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client bottle orders and receiving/organizing returned samples.
  • Organize workload to client supply requests.

  • Participate in weekly rotation of janitorial duties and other duties as assigned.

General Accountability:

This position is responsible for assisting with client bottle orders and to assist with the receiving and organizing of the returned samples for shipping to the Vancouver laboratory.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • General duties to support client requested supplies and shipping of samples
  • Organize workload to client supply requests
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow ALS Safety Manual and policies
  • Work in a team environment
  • Position is for Monday to Friday day shift coverage to extend the usual 9-5 office hours, but evening or weekend shifts may be required as needed to serve our customers
  • Prepare samples for shipment and complete waybills
  • Deliver shipments to the airport and/or supplies to client offices, as needed
  • Data entry into computer software (LIMS system) for shipping orders
  • Participate in weekly rotation of janitorial duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, taking out garbage, and cleaning the bathroom
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Supervisor or Manager
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading)
  • Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confident with computers
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with attention to detail and proven ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required
  • Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Some experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced environment is an asset
  • Some customer service experience is an asset
  • Valid provincial Class 5 driver’s licence with clean driving record
  • Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic lab safety is an asset
Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances; Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift; Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks; Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.

Our Benefits Include:

An estimated hourly pay of $25.99 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
