Job summary

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking an Equipment Engineer – Gas Turbines in St. John’s to support long-term asset plans, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvements for gas turbine assets.

You will lead maintenance planning, conduct failure analyses, manage spare parts, and collaborate with service providers while ensuring budget adherence and safe, efficient operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• Eligible for PEGNL as professional member or engineer-in-training.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with gas turbines.
• Good working knowledge of computers and corporate software (JDEdwards, MS Office, PM tools).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain long-term asset plans for gas turbine equipment.
• Create maintenance strategies to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Perform failure and criticality analyses and propose improvements.
• Manage spare parts requirements for readiness and planning.
• Monitor performance and prepare costed reports of issues and actions.
• Provide support for protection and control equipment and related philosophies.
• Assist in budget justification for operating and capital needs.
• Coordinate with Hydro teams and service providers for planning activities.
• Support predictive maintenance programs (vibration, thermal, acoustic).
