Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a 1st–4th year gasfitter apprentice. You’ll measure reference points, install and maintain gas heating units, and test equipment for leaks in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Location is Lethbridge, Alberta. The role involves field and shop work, requires a valid Class 5 license, and offers overtime with a comprehensive benefits package.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment.
• Install, maintain and service gas construction heating units and their components, such as burners, valves, and automatic controls.
• Test and replace defective equipment or components.
• Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices.
• Attend to gas escape calls.
• Prepare reports on work performed and condition of equipment.
• Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems.
• May repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.
• Check equipment for damage upon return, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• 1st to 4th year apprentice gasfitter.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points).
• You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Picker truck experience is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair a variety of heating equipment in the shop or field.
• Experience with temporary construction heaters (direct and indirect fired, hydronic, electrical etc.) would be an asset.
• Knowledge of designing and installing temporary heating systems at construction sites using natural gas, propane and diesel equipment would be an asset.
• Knowledge of the safety regulations, codes and practices regarding LP/NG use, equipment servicing, permitting and installation at construction sites would be an asset.
• Ability to read/understand building and mechanical plans, job specifications and other technical documents would be an asset.
