Job summary

Ubisoft Montréal is seeking a Game Designer specializing in vehicles to drive vehicle systems and balance gameplay across our titles. You’ll tune handling, physics, and vehicle customization within Unreal Engine and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver polished experiences.

You will create prototypes, adapt designs to production constraints, maintain design docs, and contribute to cinematic camera and controls features.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing vehicles included in a released game.
  • Knowledge of vehicle handling, simulation and balancing.
  • Use Unreal Engine to design and tune game features.
  • Experience with Chaos Vehicles in Unreal Engine as an asset.
  • Interest in vehicle gameplay.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness and collaborative approach.
  • Understand the video game market.

Responsibilities

  • Design vehicle systems and features aligned with the game’s direction.
  • Tune handling and physics, including surfaces and terrain effects on driving.
  • Balance vehicle settings in Unreal Engine to make driving engaging and realistic.
  • Design vehicle customization so changing parts affects drive.

  • Build prototypes in Unreal Engine and evaluate results.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate features.
  • Adapt designs to technical and production constraints and resolve issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Game Designer (vehicles) at Ubisoft Montréal, you will focus first on vehicle systems and mechanics. You will tune how vehicles behave to create an immersive, smooth driving experience while also contributing to other areas of game design.

What you’ll do

  • Design vehicle systems and features aligned with the game’s direction
  • Tune handling and physics, including how various surfaces and terrain affect driving
  • Balance vehicle settings in Unreal Engine to make driving feel engaging and realistic
