Job summary

Carmichael Engineering Ltd. is hiring a G1 Gas Technician/Gas Fitter A for a full-time, on-site role at 49 Blizzard St, Fredericton, NB. You will receive a company vehicle, uniform, and tools.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in combustion and heating systems, with at least five years of maintenance and repair experience and a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include seasonal maintenance, diagnosing gas/propane issues, testing equipment, and ensuring safe operation.

Qualifications

• G1 certification required to perform gas work.
• Minimum 5 years in maintenance/repair of industrial heating and combustion systems.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong communication skills with clients and suppliers.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform seasonal maintenance on hot water and steam heating systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.
• Diagnose natural gas and propane system issues, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
• Test combustion equipment and control systems.
• Dismantle defective systems and test components.
• Replace faulty parts and reassemble repaired systems.
• Test system operation and adjust for safe, reliable performance.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and malfunctions.
• Provide personalized follow-up with clients, directly or through the office.

Work Schedule:

Full-time Permanent position

You will be supplied a company vehicle, uniform, and tools.

• Perform seasonal maintenance on a wide range of hot water and steam heating systems in commercial, industrial and institutional sectors
• Diagnose natural gas and propane system issues, troubleshoot, and resolve problems
• Test combustion equipment and associated control systems
• Dismantle defective systems and test components
• Replace faulty parts and reassemble repaired systems
• Test system operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe and reliable performance
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and causes of malfunctions
• Perform combustion analysis and adjustments to meet manufacturer requirements
• Provide personalized follow-up with clients, either directly or through the office

Requirements

• G1 certification
• HVAC experience an asset
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of industrial and institutional heating and combustion systems
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong communication skills with clients and suppliers
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams
