Job description

Join Our Team as a Fund Development Manager at Between Friends!

Do you believe fundraising is about people first and dollars second?

Do you love building meaningful relationships, creating unforgettable donor experiences, and turning big ideas into lasting community impact?

At Between Friends, we believe every person deserves a place to connect, grow, and belong. Every gift we receive helps children, youth, and adults with disabilities build friendships, confidence, independence, and joy.

We're looking for an experienced Fund Development Manager to help write the next chapter of our story.

Who We Are:

At Between Friends, we’re all about creating connections, embracing diversity, and celebrating every individual. We run inclusive programs and development opportunities where people of all abilities can come together, have fun, and build meaningful friendships. Our mission is simple but powerful: to create a community where everyone can connect, grow and belong. Whether it’s a day at camp, a night of karaoke, or road tripping to Edmonton, we’re here to make sure that everyone feels welcome, valued, and included. If you’re passionate about making a positive impact and believe in the power of friendship, you’ll fit right in with us!

The Role:

You’ll work alongside our CEO and an incredible team to grow the generosity that makes our programs possible.

You’ll:

  • Inspire major donors, foundations, and corporate partners to invest in our mission.
  • Build authentic relationships that turn first-time supporters into lifelong champions.
  • Lead our fundraising strategy, annual giving, grants, sponsorships, and stewardship.
  • Help create memorable fundraising events that people can't wait to attend.
  • Lead and mentor a talented Fund Development team while fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
  • Use data, creativity, and strategy to grow fundraising revenue year after year.

Every conversation you have, every grant you write, every donor you thank, and every partnership you build helps create life-changing opportunities for people with disabilities.

We’re Looking for Someone Who …
  • Has 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience
  • Has successfully secured major gifts and grants
  • Loves building authentic relationships
  • Thinks strategically but isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves
  • Is an exceptional communicator and storyteller
  • Enjoys leading and developing people
  • Believes that inclusion isn't just something we do—it's who we are
  • Bonus points if you hold a CFRE designation (or are working toward one!)
Why You’ll Love Working with Us:

We're not your typical nonprofit.

We're a team that believes work should be meaningful and fun.

You’ll join a collaborative organization where:

  • Your ideas are welcomed.
  • Your growth is supported.
  • Your wellbeing matters.
  • Your work has a direct and visible impact on hundreds of families every year.

From Camp Bonaventure to W.E.S.O.A.R!, every dollar raised helps create spaces where people with disabilities experience friendship, belonging, and unforgettable memories.

We Think You'll Love It Here If You...
  • Love meeting new people.
  • Get excited about closing a major gift.
  • Think donor stewardship is just as important as donor acquisition.
  • Enjoy balancing strategy with hands‑on work.
  • Believe relationships change communities.
  • Want to wake up every day knowing your work truly matters.

At Between Friends, we value diversity and recognize that individuals come with a unique set of experiences that can contribute to our mission of providing quality social, recreation, and development opportunities so that people with disabilities can connect, grow, and belong. We believe that adding new ideas and diversity of thought to our teams is essential to our success.
