Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking a Business Intelligence Application Developer to own the architecture and evolution of a production R/Shiny application, delivering reporting, automation, and data solutions for strategic planning.

You will collaborate with technical teams, operations, and senior stakeholders to translate complex business needs into scalable analytics and dashboards while advancing cloud, AI, and data engineering initiatives.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building production R/Shiny apps.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and ongoing development of a production R/Shiny app.
• Apply Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and Docker/Kubernetes best practices.
• Design executive dashboards and semantic models using Power BI.
• Build data models and pipelines across Azure, Databricks, Fabric, Postgres.
• Automate workflows with Python, Power Platform, Airflow, or GitHub Actions.
• Develop AI-enabled solutions and apply forecasting, clustering, anomaly detection, and segmentation as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data quality issues and translate business questions into analyses.

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact business intelligence and application development function within a large, complex organization. As the Business Intelligence Application Developer, youll lead the architecture and continued evolution of a production R/Shiny application while building reporting, automation, and data solutions that support strategic technology planning and decision-making.

Youll work closely with technical teams, operational partners, and senior stakeholders to turn complex business needs into scalable, reliable solutions. This role is well suited to a hands‑on developer who enjoys working independently, making thoughtful architecture decisions, and improving how people access, understand, and act on data.

Your Responsibilities

• Youll own the architecture and continued development of a production R/Shiny application, including scalability, performance, modular design, and user experience improvements.
• Youll apply strong software engineering practices including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, documentation, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Youll design executive‑level dashboards, semantic models, DAX measures, and self‑service reporting solutions using Power BI and related technologies.
• Youll build data models, integration patterns, and pipelines across Azure, Databricks, Fabric, Postgres, and other cloud or on‑premise sources.
• Youll automate workflows using Python, Power Platform, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Airflow, GitHub Actions, or similar orchestration tools.
• Youll develop AI‑enabled solutions and apply techniques such as forecasting, clustering, anomaly detection, and segmentation where they add measurable value.
• Youll partner with stakeholders to identify data quality issues, improve processes, and translate business questions into actionable analytical solutions.

Skills and Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience architecting, developing, and maintaining production R and Shiny applications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including Git, CI/CD, testing, modular code design, and debugging complex reactive applications.
• Proficiency in SQL, DAX, Python, Power BI, semantic modeling, security protocols, and executive dashboard development.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure, Databricks, Fabric, and Postgres, with AWS or GCP considered an asset.
• Experience integrating multiple data sources and resolving data quality, reconciliation, and performance challenges.
• Experience building AI‑powered workflow tools, with exposure to React or similar front‑end technologies considered an asset.
• Strong communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work with a high degree of self‑direction.
