Reporting to the Director, Student Support Services, the Finance and Operations Manager is responsible for the effective administration, financial stewardship, human resources operations, procurement support, operational planning and continuous improvement of Student Support Services and the broader Student Services portfolios supported by the Finance and Operations team. The role provides financial, human resources and procurement leadership and service to Student Support Services, Indigenous Initiatives including the Mamidosewin Centre, Recruitment, the Co-op and Career Centre, and the Registrar's Office.
In addition to the cross-portfolio business operations mandate, the position has direct management accountability for the AC Hub, Spiritual Centre, Volunteer Centre and Housing Office. The Manager provides strategic and operational direction for student-facing services, staff and student employees; oversees budgets, staffing, service standards, reporting, communications, events and program delivery; and works with internal and external partners to improve access, transition, engagement, belonging, housing support and student success.
The Manager develops and monitors multi-year operating and capital budgets, forecasts revenues and expenditures, manages complex funding and accountability requirements, supports workforce planning and employee relations, oversees procurement and contracting processes, and advises leaders on operational, financial and staffing decisions. The role also leads major student transition and engagement cycles, including AC Start and AC Day 1, supports the Student Navigator Program, and ensures programs and services are reviewed and improved using operational data, student feedback, risk assessment and available resources.
The position is a member of the Student Support Services Management Team and works collaboratively with College leaders, service areas, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Marketing and Communications, Facilities, Information Technology Services, the Students' Association, Campus Ministries, government and community partners. The role exercises independent judgement across a broad and complex portfolio and brings forward matters requiring Director or senior leadership approval.
