Job summary

Algonquin College in Ottawa and Pembroke is seeking a highly skilled IT professional to support the College's Cloud Adoption strategy. You will develop, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions, focusing on Azure, security, and scalable architectures for internal and student-facing applications.

The role requires deep knowledge of object-oriented programming, full-stack development, cloud design patterns, and collaboration with internal clients to gather requirements and deliver reliable,

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in IT, computer science or related field.
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification required.
  • Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) certification required.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) certification required.
  • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) certification required.
  • Microsoft .NET (ASP.NET/C#) experience required.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience required.
  • Visual Studio experience required.
  • Minimum 8 years IT experience in BA/PM or custom development; at least 2 years in Azure app development.

Responsibilities

  • Support cloud adoption by developing, implementing, and maintaining cloud solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and DevSecOps/CI improvements.
  • Gather requirements from internal clients and document architectures.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Solutions - Microsoft, the incumbent will be supporting the College's Cloud Adoption strategy by providing expertise in cloud solution development, implementation, maintenance, administration and technical support services for the platform's solutions and integrations.

The incumbent will have in-depth knowledge of object-oriented programming, full-stack development, cloud design patterns, and security best practices for application and database security.

The incumbent takes on a business analysis, technical advisor, planning and operational role in customizing, developing and administering the platform's solutions and related DevSecOps/Continuous Improvement components with the express purpose of delivering on the goals and objectives of the College. The incumbent takes a client-centric approach, placing strong emphasis on usability and ensuring all solutions provide an optimal experience for both internal clients (employees) and external clients (students, partners).

The incumbent is responsible for working with internal clients to gather requirements and implement solutions, configurations and code changes. In addition, the incumbent will document system architecture, configuration and administrative processes. Furthermore, the incumbent will take a proactive approach to maintaining and optimizing existing solutions, development frameworks, development processes, providing technical advice, orientation, training, guidance and direction to administrative and academic clients, and end-users.

The incumbent also provides guidance to other development staff to support the integration of our systems leading to the sharing of information across all business units.

The incumbent will keep abreast of Microsoft Azure changes and features to make recommendations to the Team Lead/Architect and Manager as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) Year Diploma/Degree in the area of Business, Computer Science, or related information Technology field Azure;
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
  • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
  • Or Google Clou, or IEEE Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
  • Additional requirements obtained by courses;
  • Microsoft .Net technology (ASP.NET/C#)
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Visual Studio
  • Minimum combination of at least eight (8) years' experience in IT: Business Analysis, Project Management and/or custom solution development with standard object-oriented languages. Two (2) of these years must be in Azure Application Development;
  • Development of API, Web Services, Service Bus/Layer development;
  • In-depth knowledge of standard capabilities of Azure and have created integrations with internal and external systems;
  • In-depth knowledge of standard capabilities of M365 and Graph API;
  • Strong reporting background using Cloud analytics and PowerBI;
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business processes into technical requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementation of system upgrades and customizations;
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting application frameworks, policies, and procedures;
  • Coding, testing and maintaining software updates and projects;
  • Supporting clients and addressing defects.
