Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in Toronto is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Client Performance and Management Information team. You will design, develop and maintain full stack applications using JavaScript, Node.js and modern front-end frameworks to deliver robust user interfaces and APIs.

You will work across the application stack, integrate with Java-based services and PostgreSQL, and contribute to modernization initiatives that improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience with JavaScript and Node.js in a professional setting.
• Proficiency with React or similar front-end frameworks.
• Experience building REST APIs and web services.
• Strong SQL knowledge and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Git and modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD.
• Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code.
• Experience debugging and resolving production issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using JavaScript and Node.js
• Develop and enhance user interfaces using React or similar modern front-end technologies
• Build and integrate REST APIs and web services
• Integrate with Java-based microservices and understand end-to-end application flows
• Retrieve, validate, and troubleshoot data using SQL and PostgreSQL
• Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code for long-term maintainability
• Investigate production issues and perform root-cause analysis
• Support releases, deployments, production support, and CI/CD improvements
