Evolvesquads in Toronto is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to build a vertical SaaS platform for tattoo artists. You will own features from database migrations to frontend and mobile experiences, work across PostgreSQL, Node/Koa, React, and TypeScript, and collaborate with a small team including CTO.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web products.
• Strong full-stack development experience, across frontend and backend.
• Advanced TypeScript experience across the application stack.
• Strong React experience with modern tooling such as Vite, Tailwind CSS, and TanStack Query.
• Strong Node.js experience, ideally with Koa and API technologies like tRPC.
• Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including writing raw SQL and understanding query performance.

Responsibilities

• Build across the full stack: from database migrations and backend services through to frontend and mobile experience.
• Own projects independently: turn loosely defined requirements into well-scoped, shippable features and drive them through development, review, and production.
• Work on core product initiatives: contribute to payments, scheduling, bookings, client management, and messaging.

• Write and optimize SQL: work with PostgreSQL and raw SQL and read query plans for performance.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We are building a vertical SaaS platform that helps tattoo artists and studios manage their day-to-day business operations through a single platform. The product streamlines appointment bookings, scheduling, deposits, payments, client communication, flash drops, and administrative workflows, replacing fragmented processes traditionally managed through social media messages, paper calendars, and manual payment tracking. The platform is designed to accommodate different artists and studios, allowing them to configure booking rules, deposit policies, availability, and client workflows based on how they operate their businesses.

We are developing the platform as a full-stack web and mobile product, with engineers owning features end-to-end from database migrations and backend services through to user-facing interfaces. Key areas include scheduling and booking, payment processing, client management, messaging, workflow customization, and mobile experiences for artists. The system is designed for reliability and rapid iteration, with production features released incrementally behind feature flags and continuously refined based on feedback from artists and studio owners.

PROJECT STACK and TEAM:

Technical Stack : TypeScript, React 19, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Node.js 24, Koa.

Hybrid – Toronto, Tuesday & Thursday

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web products.

Strong full-stack development experience, comfortable working across both frontend and backend.

Advanced TypeScript experience across the application stack.

Strong React experience, preferably with modern React and frontend tooling such as Vite, Tailwind CSS, and TanStack Query.

Strong Node.js experience, ideally with frameworks such as Koa and API technologies like tRPC.

Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including writing raw SQL and understanding query execution plans/performance optimization.

GOOD TO HAVE:

Experience with Capacitor or cross-platform mobile development.

Experience with AWS and background job/queue systems such as BullMQ.

Experience with payments, scheduling, booking, or vertical SaaS products.

Experience using AI coding tools and working in a small, fast-paced startup environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build across the full stack: Take features from database migrations and backend services through to the frontend and mobile experience, owning the work end-to-end.

Own projects independently: Turn loosely defined requirements into well-scoped, shippable features and drive them through development, review, and production.

Work on core product initiatives: Contribute to major areas such as payments, scheduling, bookings, client management, and messaging, collaborating with the broader team when needed.

Stay close to users: Review customer feedback and support conversations, understand how artists use the product, and use those insights to improve what you build.

Write and optimize SQL: Work extensively with PostgreSQL and raw SQL, including investigating query performance and reading query plans when necessary.

Ship continuously: Work with small pull requests, feature flags, code reviews, and frequent production deployments.

Participate in production support: Take part in the engineering on-call rotation and help troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
