Job summary

ALTEN Canada is seeking a senior full-stack professional to drive end-to-end feature delivery across frontend and backend in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Based in Canada with Montreal and Toronto offices, ALTEN Canada leverages global expertise and local insight to accelerate innovation across industries. You will work with modern stacks like Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, Java 17/Jakarta EE 10, and integrate AI tools to enhance products.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on full stack delivery experience.
• Angular 17+ and TypeScript 5.x with Angular Material.
• Java with Jakarta EE 10.
• SQL/relational database fundamentals.
• Hands-on AI experience: vector databases, RAG flows, LangChain or Haystack.
• Strong business communication, able to present own work.

Responsibilities

• Support DevOps tooling when needed.
• Own feature delivery end-to-end: frontend Angular 17+/TypeScript 5.x/Angular Material; backend Java 17+/Jakarta EE 10.
• Design API contracts, error handling, logging, and performance-conscious services.
• Automated testing: Jest (frontend) + JUnit 5 (backend).
• Database work: schema creation/modification, queries, migrations.
• Use AI tools and integrate LLM components (vector DB, RAG flows, LangChain/Haystack).

Day to day activities:

• When needed, support DevOps tooling and practices
• Own feature delivery end-to-end: Angular 17+/TypeScript 5.x/Angular Material frontend, Java 17+/Jakarta EE 10 backend
• Design API contracts, error handling, logging, performance-conscious services
• Automated testing: Jest (frontend) + JUnit 5 (backend)
• Database work: schema creation/modification, queries, basic performance tuning, migrations
• Use AI tools (Copilot, Windsurf/Devin) and integrate LLM components (vector DB e.g. ChromaDB, RAG flows, LangChain/Haystack)

Candidate requirements

Must-haves:

• Strong hands-on full stack delivery experience, Angular 17+, TypeScript 5.x, Angular Material
• Java, Jakarta EE 10
• SQL / relational database fundamentals
• Hands-on AI experience: For example: GitHub Copilot and/or Windsurf/Devin, understanding of vector databases (RAG flows), exposure to LangChain or Haystack
• Strong business communication, able to understand a BA without heavy translation, able to present own work

Nice to have:

• Reinsurance system experience (not just general insurance)
• Financial sector background preferred
• Jest (frontend) + JUnit 5 (backend)
• Spring Batch
• Python / FastAPI
• Redis
• Basic DevOps exposure (CI/CD, tooling), 30% of the role
• Soft skills: Autonomy, end-to-end ownership mindset, strong testing/clean-code discipline

In accordance with our compensation practices, ALTEN is providing the salary range associated with this opportunity. Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is $120,000/Annum
