Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a Fuel Channel Removal Superintendent for the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project in Ontario. In this role, you will supervise, coordinate, and schedule construction activities while ensuring safety and efficiency on site.

What is the Opportunity?

CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project in partnership with Ontario Power Generation. Under the general direction of the Construction Manager, the Fuel Channel Removal Superintendent will supervise, coordinate, and schedule construction activities on the project site, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

What You'll Do Here
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public representatives.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with safety, quality, and human‑performance policies.
  • Implement Joint Venture and Client policies and project procedures.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and updating the project schedule with the Construction Manager; ensure subcontractors comply with the master schedule.
  • Use the master schedule to create detailed look‑ahead schedules with supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Develop recovery strategies when the project schedule or budget are at risk.
  • Plan, supervise, and approve the work of own crews and subcontractors, determining methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity, materials usage, equipment use, and contractual performance.
  • Ensure trade personnel complete all required training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation, and owner‑specified requirements.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Fieldwork Packages, Inspection & Test Plans, and the schedule and budget.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, and other contractors.
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with QA programs and project quality guidelines.
  • Maintain field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, and FWP documents.
  • Participate in layout and preparation of work instructions and field engineering activities.
  • Act as nominated delegate for the Construction Manager when required.
  • Direct Forepersons and hourly trades subcontractors in the execution of their assigned duties.
  • Maintain discipline and implement procedures when necessary.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Education of a technical college diploma or equivalent training combined with experience.
  • Minimum five years of construction and subcontractor supervision experience.
  • Capability to successfully supervise a construction project.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements, jurisdictional regulations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand cost reports.
  • Basic presentation skills.
  • Leadership experience and ability to guide project plans.
Benefits and Commitment

The role offers a salary range of $165,000–$170,000 per year, with compensation determined by location, experience, and qualifications.
