Buffalo Trail Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to join our team at Irma School for the 2026–2027 school year. This temporary teaching position includes Physical Education and K–12 General Studies.

Specific Position Details

Start Date: October 1, 2026

End Date: December 18, 2026 (or upon the return of the contracted teacher)

Specific Position Duties

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience and/or training in Physical Education and K-12 instruction.
• A strong understanding of the Alberta curriculum and effective instructional practices.
• The ability to create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and student engagement
• Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
• The ability to create inclusive learning environments that support a range of learning needs and abilities
• The ability to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate supports and challenges for diverse learners
• A commitment to fostering positive relationships and creating learning environments where all students feel valued and supported
• A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community

Qualifications and General Duties

The successful candidate will possess:

• A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
• A student-centred philosophy committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment
• Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning, including formative and summative assessment

practices

• Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology to support communication, collaboration, and student learning
• The ability to foster positive relationships and create a strong sense of belonging for students
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
• A demonstrated commitment to professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
• A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community would be considered an asset
