Job summary

SOAHAC in London, Ontario is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Finance to lead the finance team and report to the CEO. You will steer budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and governance across multi-funded programs, while partnering with leaders and the Board to ensure sound financial stewardship.

A CPA designation, 7+ years of finance leadership, and experience in not-for-profit healthcare are preferred; Ontario funding experience is an asset.

Qualifications

Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is a diverse, dynamic, multiservice Indigenous health and wellness agency. SOAHAC is looking for an experienced finance leader who brings strong financial stewardship, strategic thinking and a practical, collaborative approach to leadership.

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Manager, Finance is SOAHAC’s senior financial leader. This role leads the Finance team and works closely with the CEO, organizational leaders and Board of Directors to support sound financial stewardship, informed decision-making and long-term financial sustainability.

This is an opportunity for a CPA who is comfortable moving between strategy and execution - someone who can see the larger financial picture while understanding the details that matter, translate complex financial information into practical advice, and strengthen the financial systems, processes and reporting needed to support a complex, multi-funded healthcare organization.

What You’ll Lead

As SOAHAC’s senior financial leader, you will:

• Lead organizational budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), multi-year financial planning and cash-flow management
• Provide the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board with clear financial analysis and advice, identifying risks, opportunities and the financial implications of organizational priorities, programs, staffing decisions and investments to support informed decision-making
• Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple programs, funding sources, cost centres and funding agreements, including funder reporting and accountability requirements
• Strengthen financial reporting, internal controls, accounting policies, approval authorities and financial processes across the organization
• Lead annual audit and year-end financial reporting processes and ensure audit recommendations are appropriately addressed
• Provide financial oversight of payroll, pension and benefit-related transactions, reconciliations and controls
• Develop practical dashboards and management reporting that strengthen financial understanding and accountability across the organization
• Lead, coach and develop the Finance team while strengthening systems, processes, reporting and overall Finance capacity and maintaining effective relationships with funders, auditors, financial institutions and other partners

What You Bring

You are an experienced finance leader with strong business and financial acumen, technical knowledge, analytical judgment and the ability to make complex financial information understandable and useful.

You are comfortable identifying opportunities for improvement, asking thoughtful questions and working collaboratively with leaders across an organization.

You bring:

• A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial CPA body
• A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible finance experience, including significant financial leadership responsibility and experience leading and developing a Finance team
• Demonstrated experience with organizational budgeting, forecasting/FP&A, financial reporting, audit, cash-flow management, internal controls and executive-level financial analysis
• Experience presenting financial information to senior leadership and/or Boards and translating complex financial information for non-financial leaders
• Demonstrated experience improving or transforming financial processes, controls, systems or reporting
• Experience in a multi-funded, publicly funded, healthcare, not-for-profit or similarly complex environment is strongly preferred, including experience with government/funder accountability and restricted funding
• Experience with payroll financial controls and oversight is strongly preferred
• Experience in Indigenous health, First Nations health, or working with Indigenous organizations and communities is a strong asset. Ontario healthcare funding and reporting experience is also an asset
• A Master’s degree, MBA or other relevant advanced education is considered an asset

Additional Requirements

• Satisfactory and current Police Record Check in accordance with SOAHAC requirements
• Up-to-date immunization documentation in accordance with organizational requirements
• Ability to travel to SOAHAC sites and other locations on an occasional basis, as required
• Flexibility to work outside regular office hours when required to support Board meetings, funding activities and other organizational priorities
• Willingness to participate in Indigenous cultural safety learning, organizational cultural learning, teachings and ceremonies as appropriate to the role
