Job summary

Canada Packers Inc. in Brandon, MB is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to lead the site’s food safety and quality programs.

You will work with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Supply Chain to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Canada Packers standards. This role reports to the Director, FSQA and manages the QA team, driving audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, Animal Science, or a related discipline.
• Progressive experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience in a federally regulated food manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of HACCP-based food safety systems and audit programs.
• Strong leadership and people development skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Strong decision-making and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to operational teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• Collaborative, approachable, and results-oriented leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Lead food safety, quality, sanitation verification, and animal welfare programs.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
• Support and maintain HACCP and prerequisite programs.
• Coordinate audits with customers, regulators, and certifications.
• Ensure product and environmental monitoring programs are completed and acted on.
• Lead investigations of non-conformances, customer complaints, audit findings, and holds.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Stop production when safety or quality concerns arise.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to QA team.
• Develop team capability and succession planning.
