Job summary

Aviva Canada seeks a Claims Leader for the Auto Claims team to drive performance, coach leaders, and remove barriers to enable teams to meet strategic goals. You will use data to identify root causes, manage risk controls, and lead performance conversations, while modeling Aviva's values of care, commitment, community and confidence.

You will be licensed in Atlantic Provinces, hold CIP/FCIP designation, and bring 2+ years of leadership experience along with strong communication skills and

Qualifications

  • CIP/FCIP designation or equivalent required or preferred.
  • Fully licensed to practice in Atlantic Provinces.
  • University degree or college diploma.
  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience preferred.
  • Technical competence in Personal and Commercial Auto insurance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and drive to improve service, environment and outcomes.
  • Ability to measure and develop team performance using data.
  • Motivate and inspire staff to deliver against strategy and goals.
  • Proficiency with Guidewire ClaimCenter, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a high-performance culture by role modeling behaviors that build trust and respect.
  • Assess people’s capabilities and development needs per the framework.
  • Strengthen team capabilities through coaching and development.
  • Lead honest performance conversations, set goals, and provide frequent feedback.
  • Use data to monitor team and business unit performance and drive improvements.
  • Analyze customer demand and identify root causes of waste and failure.
  • Understand risk environment and apply risk controls proportionately.
  • Make data-driven decisions and remove performance blockers.
  • Leverage frontline insights to improve overall performance and customer journey.
  • Participate in quality assurance and address training needs.
  • Own team results and communicate link to strategy and goals.

What you’ll do
  • Create and maintain a high-performance culture by role modeling behaviors that builds trust and respect.
  • Assess people’s capabilities and development needs in accordance with the Career and capability framework.
  • Understand and strengthen team capabilities through in the work coaching and development.
  • Have honest and constructive performance conversations with our people, set clear direction and goals giving frequent feedback to ensure business unit goals are achieved.
  • Use data to understand how our people and the business unit are performing and initiate improvement activity through to execution.
  • Customer demand analysis – assist in identifying and solutioning the root cause of “waste and failure”.
  • Understand our risk environment and apply risk management controls proportionately.
  • Make decisions using data; observe the environment to identify performance blockers/barriers.
  • Use the data, insight, and expertise of the frontline to improve our overall performance, results, and the customer’s journey.
  • Participate in the Quality assurance program for your team (file quality reviews).
  • Identify and ensure training and coaching opportunities are addressed in a timely and measurable manner.
  • Take full responsibility for the results of your team, how they contribute to the overall companies’ performance and understand the consequence and impact of key decisions you make.
  • Clearly articulate and effectively communicate the link between our strategy and team goals.
What you'll bring
  • CIP and/or FCIP Industry designation
  • Fully Licensed in all Atlantic Provinces
  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • 2 + years of proven leadership experience preferred
  • Technical competence in Personal and Commercial Auto insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and drive to continually improve our service proposition, environment, and financial outcomes.
  • Ability to identify, measure and develop the performance of individuals and broader team using data.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire our people to deliver against our strategy and goals.
  • Proficiency with Guidewire ClaimCenter, Excel, PowerPoint, Sound decision making and problem‑solving skills
