Job summary

Metro California Inc. is seeking a part-time Produce Clerk for Food Basics in Ontario. You will help keep the produce area fresh, well-stocked, and attractively presented while assisting customers with selections.

The role involves unloading shipments, stocking and rotating inventory, maintaining quality and sanitation, and supporting promotional displays. Flexible shifts including nights and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Customer service driven.
• Able to stock merchandise and create displays.
• Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
• Able to lift between 30 to 50 pounds.
• Retail experience is considered an asset.
• Able to stand for extend periods of time.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Unload shipments of produce and sort items in the backroom and cooler.
• Stock shelves and displays with fresh produce, ensuring items are rotated (first-in, first-out method) to maintain freshness.
• Create visually appealing displays and arrange items neatly.
• Inspect produce for freshness and quality, removing any damaged or spoiled items.
• Monitor temperature and humidity levels in the produce section to maintain optimal storage conditions.
• Assist customers with locating specific items and provide information about different produce or products in other departments.
• Offer recommendations on how to select and store produce.
• Answer customer inquiries and address concerns.
• Keep the produce section clean and organized, including sweeping and mopping as needed.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and tools regularly.
