Job summary

Food Basics is seeking a Produce Clerk to ensure our produce section remains fresh, well-stocked, and attractively presented. You will engage with customers and help them find items while maintaining high quality standards.

The role is permanent full-time in a unionized setting. You will handle unloading shipments, stocking, and maintaining displays, with an emphasis on freshness and safety in a busy store environment.

Qualifications

• Stock merchandise and create displays.
• Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
• Able to lift between 30 to 50 pounds.
• Retail experience is considered an asset.
• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Unload shipments and sort items in backroom/cooler.
• Stock shelves with fresh produce and rotate stock (FIFO).
• Create visually appealing displays and keep areas neat.
• Inspect produce for freshness and quality; remove damaged items.
• Monitor temperature/humidity to keep produce fresh.
• Assist customers with locating items and offer product info.
