Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) seeks a full-time French Language Services Coordinator in Winnipeg, MB to coordinate French-language service delivery across MMF departments from the Languages Department. The role focuses on developing processes, translating key materials, and monitoring compliance with French-language service standards. A minimum of 3 years in related fields is expected and travel may be required. The MMF offers health, dental, vision, pension and vacation benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience in French-language services, program coordination, communications, public administration, policy, or project coordination.
  • Experience providing French-English translation or editing services is required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports, proposals, briefing materials, or other written materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the MMF French Language Services Plan and track progress against objectives.
  • Coordinate the implementation of French-language services across MMF departments and initiatives.
  • Identify gaps, risks, opportunities, and provide practical recommendations.
  • Translate, review, and edit priority MMF correspondence and documents into French.
  • Monitor legislation and standards related to French-language services and advise leadership on implications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Manitoba Francophone organizations to strengthen service capacity.

Salary Range: $57,525.00 To $65,000.00 Annually

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

We seek to fill one full-time French Language Services Coordinator position within our Languages Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The coordinator will coordinate French-language service delivery across MMF departments, identify gaps and opportunities, develop processes and recommendations, and monitor and report on progress.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the MMF French Language Services Plan and track progress against established objectives;
  • Coordinate the implementation of French-language services and priorities across MMF departments, programs, and initiatives;
  • Identify gaps, risks, opportunities, and organizational capacity related to French-language service delivery and develop practical recommendations;
  • Translate, review, and edit priority MMF correspondence, reports, policies, presentations, public notices, and communications into French;
  • Monitor federal and provincial legislation, policies, programs, and standards related to French-language services and advise leadership on relevant implications;
  • Build and maintain relationships with Manitoba Francophone organizations and institutions to strengthen French-language service capacity and collaboration.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post Secondary Education in French, Communications, Public Administration, Languages, Indigenous Studies, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience in French-language services, program coordination, communications, public administration, policy, project coordination, or a related field;
  • Experience providing French-English translation or editing services is required;
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports, proposals, briefing materials, or other written materials;
  • Experience coordinating projects, initiatives, or cross-departmental activities;
  • Experience working with Francophone organizations, institutions, or communities is considered an asset;
  • Experience with grant research, proposal development, funding applications, and reporting is an asset;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Acceptable Criminal Record Check is required;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
