Job summary

Det’on Cho Logistics LP is hiring a Freight Handler in Yellowknife, NT, on a 7x7 rotation (7 days on, 7 days off) from 6:00am to 6:00pm. The role focuses on loading/unloading cargo from aircraft and trucks while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates bring a valid class 5 license, a high school diploma, and a willingness to work in an outdoor winter environment. Forklift or loader experience is an asset; strong teamwork is valued.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift or loader experience is an asset.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate warehouse and yard equipment (forklifts/loaders) safely.
• Sort, secure, and label freight for transport.
• Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Locate high-priority freight and prepare loads for flights or trucks.
• Actively participate in safety programs and follow safety responsibilities.

What You Will Do

Det'on Logistics is seeking a skilled Freight Handler to join our team working on a 7x7 rotation(7 days on, 7 days off) from 6:00am to 6:00pm. In this position, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of freight by loading and unloading cargo from aircraft and delivery trucks. A Day In The Life

• Operate warehouse and yard equipment including forklifts and or loaders for the efficient and safe handling of freight.
• Utilize your organizational skills to ensure that all freight is accurately sorted, secured and labeled for safe transport.
• Demonstrate your attention to detail by ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
• Provide assistance in locating high-priority freight and preparing loads for upcoming flights or trucks.
• Be a safety advocate by actively participating in the Company’s Safety Management System program.
• Demonstrate your knowledge and commitment to safety by understanding and fulfilling your responsibilities regarding safety as an employee.

What You Bring

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous forklift or loader experience is considered an asset.
• Previous warehouse experience is considered an asset.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing to work in an outdoor winter environment
• Applicants should possess the ability to multitask and work in high volume, fast paced environment
