What you will do

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer or their designate, the Business Analyst is integral in ensuring internal business systems are effectively leveraged, controlled, and optimized to meet operational requirements. The role serves as an internal administrator for key business systems, and works across the Group to identify opportunities to improve processes, automate work, strengthen controls, and improve access to information.

The Business Analyst defines and documents business and system requirements, analyzes existing processes, and recommends technology and process solutions that improve operational efficiency and advance organizational objectives. The role connects business stakeholders with internal and external technical resources to support effective implementation, testing, training, and continuous improvement of business systems.

A Day in the Life

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, your job duties include:

Systems administration

  • Serve as the lead administrator for the organization's enterprise resource planning system, NetSuite, and payroll and human resources information system, ADP Workforce Now.
  • Administer system configuration, workflows, user roles, access and permissions, and maintain appropriate controls to safeguard organizational information.
  • Monitor system functionality and coordinate upgrades, enhancements and configuration changes.
  • Support the integration of business systems, where appropriate, to automate work, improve data flow and reduce manual processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business system stakeholders, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with external vendors or technical resources where required.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of system configurations, processes and changes.
  • Manage relationships with business system vendors and consultants, including coordinating support, enhancements and implementation activities.

Business process optimization

  • Work with business stakeholders to identify, gather, analyze and document business and system requirements.
  • Map current-state processes, identify inefficiencies and control gaps, and design improved future-state workflows.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to leverage technology and automation to reduce manual workload and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the standardization of processes across operating companies, where appropriate.
  • Evaluate potential system enhancements and technology solutions, including costs, benefits, risks and implementation requirements.
  • Support the development of information systems strategy, governance, policies and service delivery standards.

Corporate support & analysis

  • Lead training initiatives for various business systems, ensuring that staff use business systems in the correct manner.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a centralized corporate data and reporting structures to improve the accessibility, consistency, and reliability of organizational information.
  • Support data quality and integrity across business systems.
  • Develop recurring management reporting, dashboards and data visualization to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with the development of business cases and project management for corporate initiatives, as required.
  • Lead special projects at the request of senior management.
What You Bring
  • 3-5 years’ experience in business analysis, systems administration, finance/accounting systems, process improvement, and/or a related role.
  • Diploma or degree in Business Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, configure & troubleshoot, business applications.
  • Strong excel & data-analysis skills; experience developing dashboards and/or other data visualizations is seen as an asset.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working directly with business users to identify problems & improve processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene language, culture, and way of life would be considered an asset

The incumbent would normally be expected to have gained the required competencies through completion of a bachelor’s degree and/or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and relevant experience may be considered.

Working Conditions and Effort

The incumbent may be required to:

  • Work additional hours outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as operational needs require
  • Travel within the NWT and Canada

NOTICE:

DCMLP generally operates five days per week, seven and a half hours per day. Employees must understand that operational requirements may require changes to schedules, shifts, or work assignments. Travel within the NWT and Canada will be required. In addition, business needs determine work hours and may require some weeks to exceed thirty-seven and a half hours.
