Job description

Position: Carpenter

Requirements:

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
• Physical abilities: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in dusty environments

Work setting:

• Construction sites
• Various locations including commercial and residential areas

Tasks:

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials such as wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and others
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
• Schedule and coordinate work on sites
• Estimate costs and materials
• Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various establishments including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

• Bending, crouching, kneeling
• Combination of sitting, standing, walking
