Convverge is seeking a Fractional Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to provide senior-level expertise across Microsoft cloud, identity, security, and networking for multi-client environments. This hands-on role blends design, deployment, and knowledge transfer, helping client teams scale and secure their environments.

You’ll focus on high-impact, complex problems, deliver architecture guidance, perform root-cause analysis, and drive standardization while mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or senior technical consulting.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Azure, and Windows-based infrastructure.
• Strong experience with: Azure Virtual Desktop; Windows Server; Active Directory and Group Policy; Conditional Access and modern identity security; Enterprise networking and firewalls; Hyper-V and/or VMware; Backup and disaster recovery.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues spanning multiple technologies.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud and infrastructure solutions.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives from design through production implementation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and clients.
• Comfortable operating in a consulting or multi-client environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior escalation for complex Tier 3 issues across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, endpoints, networking, servers, and infrastructure.
• Design, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Design and implement Conditional Access, MFA, compliance policies, and security baselines.
• Support tenant migrations, licensing initiatives, security assessments, and environment improvements.
• Troubleshoot endpoint and device-management issues across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
• Review security posture and recommend improvements using Secure Score and best practices.
• Design, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
• Provide guidance on AVD architecture, security, capacity, performance, and reliability.
• Support Azure infrastructure including VMs, networking, storage, and identity integration.
• Troubleshoot complex Azure infrastructure and connectivity issues.
• Support migrations and modernization initiatives involving on-premises and Azure workloads.
• Provide senior-level expertise across Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, file services, Hyper-V, VMware, backup, and DR technologies.
• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networks.
• Perform advanced network troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Help ensure environments are reliable, secure, performant, and supportable.
• Participate in technical discovery, solution design, and client technical reviews.
• Translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Lead or support infrastructure and cloud projects from design through implementation and handoff.
• Provide senior engineering support during migrations and complex technical implementations.
• Establish repeatable technical standards and approaches across client environments.
• Incorporate security into infrastructure decisions and identify vulnerabilities.
• Develop scripts and repeatable processes for administration and reporting.
• Produce clear technical documentation, standards, runbooks, diagrams, and implementation procedures.
• Share troubleshooting approaches with the broader team.
• Coach team members through complex problems and share knowledge.
