Job summary

Tikinagan Child & Family Services is seeking a Residential Care Worker to support foster homes through regular visits, referrals, and case management. The role includes crisis intervention and collaboration with the Legal Services Worker on Band Representative cases involving families and children with external CF agencies.

Starting salary and progression are aligned with experience and Ontario-based CF services, with travel required and no remote work or relocation assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in child welfare is an asset.
• Knowledge of Foster Care Licensing Standards is an asset.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Possess skills in planning, organizing, problem solving, decision making, and communication.
• Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one.
• Basic understanding of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
• Appropriate educational qualifications and/or equivalent combination of experience and training to manage the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
• Experience with special needs and high-risk children, behavioral problems and crisis intervention.
• Travel is a requirement.
• No Remote Work Available.
• No Relocation Assistance Available.

Responsibilities

• Visit foster homes on a regular basis.
• Respond to referrals for opening Provisional and Foster Homes.
• Submit reports, assessments, and documentation on a timely basis to substantiate visits.
• Manage foster care files.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to foster parents.
• In partnership with the Legal Services Worker, focus on Band Representative cases involving families/children with other CF agencies outside our jurisdiction.
