VistaVu Solutions is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer — AI Solutions in Calgary. You will write production code, integrate AI with enterprise systems, and help customers move from idea to trusted solutions. This is a hybrid role with Canada-wide remote consideration.

You will embed with client teams, design AI apps and workflows, connect to APIs, and deploy solutions on AWS with monitoring and cost analysis. Strong TypeScript/Angular/Node.js and Python skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Production software development experience with strong full-stack coding skills in TypeScript, Angular, and Node.js, plus Python for backend and AI work.
• Experience with large language models, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, or agent workflows.
• Ability to integrate applications through REST and other APIs with structured and unstructured data.
• Strong business discovery skills: map workflows and translate ambiguous needs into deliverable scope.
• Clear customer communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Build AI solutions where the work happens

As a Forward Deployed Engineer — AI Solutions at VistaVu Solutions, you will work alongside customers to understand their business problems, learn how their teams operate, and build AI solutions that become part of everyday work. You will stay close to the people using what you build, connecting business discovery with hands-on software development and practical delivery.

This is a customer-embedded engineering role, not primarily an advisory or pre-sales position. You will write production code, integrate AI with enterprise systems, and help customers move from an initial idea to a solution they can trust and use. This is a hybrid role based in Calgary, Alberta. Remote candidates based elsewhere in Canada may also be considered.

What you will do

• Embed with customer teams to observe their work, understand business problems and workflow constraints, and identify where AI can make a practical difference. Translate those insights into clear use cases and shared acceptance criteria.
• Design and build working AI applications, assistants, and agent-based workflows. Write and test code, choose appropriate models and retrieval approaches, and validate solution behaviour with real customer scenarios rather than stopping at a demonstration.
• Connect AI solutions to enterprise APIs, data sources, and business workflows, with appropriate authentication, permissions, and data quality controls. Apply single sign-on and role-based access so people and AI agents can access only the data they should, protecting customer data in line with enterprise security and compliance standards.
• Take promising prototypes into production with maintainable code, automated tests, evaluation, deployment practices, and monitoring. Address failure modes, latency, cost, and supportability. Own solutions on AWS from discovery and design through automated deployment, monitoring and alerts, usage and cost analytics, fast issue resolution, and customer support in production. Use automated app-code tests and AI accuracy tests and evals to establish reliability.
• Test solutions with users, improve usability, and support adoption. Provide practical documentation and enablement so customer teams can operate the solution and understand when human review is needed.
• Collaborate with client business stakeholders, IT teams, and data owners, alongside VistaVu's architecture, engineering, and delivery colleagues. Explain technical trade-offs and keep decisions tied to the customer’s problem.
• Improve reliability through troubleshooting, user feedback, and evaluation. Build safeguards for sensitive data, model errors, and actions that require approval.
• Turn customer learning into reusable components, integration patterns, evaluation methods, and delivery approaches, while protecting customer-specific data and requirements.
• Review other developers’ work and help them grow their Claude and full-stack skills.

What you bring

• Experience building and supporting production software, with strong full-stack coding skills in TypeScript, Angular, and Node.js, plus Python for backend and AI work, including maintainable application design, version control, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with large language models, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, or agent workflows. Ability to evaluate outputs, manage context, and recognize when a non-AI approach is more appropriate. Experience building production applications, workflows, and AI agents on the Claude API, including tool use, agent design, prompt engineering, and evals.
• Ability to integrate applications through REST and other APIs and work with structured and unstructured data, including databases, authentication, access controls, and data quality.
• Strong business discovery skills: uncovering the problem behind a request, mapping workflows, and translating ambiguous needs into deliverable engineering scope.
• Clear customer communication across technical and non-technical audiences, including thoughtful questions, understandable trade-offs, progress demonstrations, and constructive responses to feedback.
• Ownership across delivery and operation, with sound judgement about security, reliability, and human oversight. Comfort working closely with users while remaining accountable for implementation quality.
• Experience building serverless applications on AWS using Lambda, DynamoDB for documents, and Aurora DSQL for relational data.

• SAP and ERP integration experience is an asset, including OData and SOAP APIs, SAP-specific data and integration challenges, and the end-to-end processes behind them: sales through delivery and billing, and purchasing through supplier invoicing.
• Experience with additional cloud platforms or managed AI services beyond the required AWS stack is preferred.
• Knowledge of operational processes such as finance, supply chain, inventory, manufacturing, or customer service.
