Job summary

Bosa Construction Inc. is hiring an estimator to drive the formwork division forward with detailed and timely estimates. You will partner with leadership, Project Managers, and trade partners to price labor, materials, and equipment for Lower Mainland projects.

The role requires at least three years of complex concrete/formwork experience and strong Excel and on-screen takeoff skills. A Building Technology or Construction Management credential is preferred, and the successful candidate will help

Qualifications

• 3+ years on complex concrete/formwork projects.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
• Experience using on-screen takeoff tools and Excel.
• Able to manage multiple deliverables across project phases.
• Knowledge of market practices, materials, and trade pricing.

Responsibilities

• Assemble estimating input including labour, material, equipment and trade pricing.
• Collaborate with preconstruction and project teams to form a value-add estimating team.
• Prepare labour and material breakdowns for budgets and planning.
• Review designs to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies.
• Ensure complete costed scopes with subcontractor quotes and specs.
• Build relationships with trades and suppliers for accurate pricing.
• Provide conceptual estimates from drawings through final cost analysis.
• Track estimate vs. actual costs over the project life.

About the Role

Bosa Construction is hiring an estimator to drive our formwork division forward with detailed, precise and timely estimates. We are focused on building and maintaining longstanding relationships within the Lower Mainland construction industry and that all stems from how we bid and price our jobs. You will partner closely with Bosa Construction leadership, Project Managers and our current and future trade partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble all estimating input including labour, material, equipment and trade pricing;
• Collaborate with peers in virtual construction, operations and project management to form a value-add preconstruction team;
• Prepare and analyze labour needs and breakdowns to assist with budgets and planning;
• Review designs to identify areas of improvement and opportunity for cost efficiencies;
• Complete project scope of work reviews to ensure completeness of estimates, and all technical specifications, subcontractor scopes, and general condition items have been quantified and costed;
• Build strong relationships and long-term partnership opportunities with our trades and suppliers;
• Conceptual estimating from preliminary drawings through final cost analysis;
• Track estimated versus actual costs over the life of the project.

Skills & Experience

• At least three solid years of experience working on complex projects concrete and formwork projects from beginning to end;
• High level of attention to detail to drive accuracy and consistency throughout your work;
• Experience and comfortable working with on-screen takeoff tools and Excel;
• Able to balance multiple deliverables at different phases of completion and complexity;
• Knowledge of trade practices, market conditions, and building materials;
• Certificate, diploma, or degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, and/or PQS;
• Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of employees and owners, architects, and subtrades.
