Job summary

Bosa Construction is seeking an estimator to support the pre-construction phase of our formwork division in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver area. The role partners with leadership, Project Managers, and trade partners to build accurate estimates from drawings and specifications.

You will prepare labour, material, and subcontractor costs, analyze designs for cost efficiencies, and track estimates against actuals to improve future bids.

Qualifications

• At least 3–5 years of experience on complex projects, preferably concrete and formwork.
• Able to balance multiple deliverables across project phases.
• Knowledge of trade practices, market conditions, and building materials.
• Experience with on-screen takeoff tools and Excel.
• Certificate, diploma, or degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, and/or PQS.

Responsibilities

• Assemble estimating input including labour, material, equipment and trade pricing.
• Collaborate with virtual construction, operations and project management to form a preconstruction team.
• Prepare and analyze labour needs and breakdowns to assist with budgets and planning.
• Review designs to identify areas for cost efficiencies.
• Complete project scope reviews to ensure all specs, subcontractor scopes, and general conditions are quantified and costed.
• Build relationships with trades and suppliers for accurate pricing.
• Conceptual estimating from preliminary drawings through final cost analysis.
• Track estimated versus actual costs over the life of the project.

About the Role

Bosa Construction is hiring an estimator to support our passionate and relationship driven formwork division. We have a strong base of established clients and an expanding portfolio that requires a new estimator to support the pre-construction phase. You will partner closely with Bosa Construction leadership, Project Managers and our current and future trade partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble all estimating input including labour, material, equipment and trade pricing;


• Collaborate with peers in virtual construction, operations and project management to form a value-add preconstruction team;


• Prepare and analyze labour needs and breakdowns to assist with budgets and planning;


• Review designs to identify areas of improvement and opportunity for cost efficiencies;


• Complete project scope of work reviews to ensure completeness of estimates, and all technical specifications, subcontractor scopes, and general condition items have been quantified and costed;


• Build strong relationships and long-term partnership opportunities with our trades and suppliers;


• Conceptual estimating from preliminary drawings through final cost analysis;


• Track estimated versus actual costs over the life of the project.

Skills & Experience

• At least three to five (3-5) solid years of experience working on complex projects from beginning to end, ideally in the concrete and formwork industries;


• Able to balance multiple deliverables at different phases of completion and complexity;


• Knowledge of trade practices, market conditions, and building materials;


• Experience and comfortable working with on-screen takeoff tools and Excel;


• Certificate, diploma, or degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, and/or PQS;


• High level of attention to detail to drive accuracy and consistency throughout your work;


• Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of employees and owners, architects, and subtrades.
