Job summary

Nortera Foods Inc. is seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join the Packaging team in a fast-paced perishable environment. You will safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and stack materials while following strict safety protocols.

The role requires data entry using inventory systems, basic PPE use, and flexible shifts including Days, Afternoons, and Nights. Competitive hourly wages and opportunities for cross-training are provided.

Qualifications

• Must successfully pass site-specific forklift training.
• Dexterity: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, standing.
• Medium to heavy lifting capability (approx. 5–25 kg).
• Rotating 8-hour shifts Mon–Fri with bi-weekly rotation and possible overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a forklift to load/unload and move bulk product.
• Enter data using computer inventory systems and handheld scanners.
• Support pallet transfers between locations and ensure accurate labeling.
• Perform daily forklift safety checks and use PPE.
• Adhere to all safety procedures including Lock Out/Tag Out.

Nortera is currently looking for a highly motivated, energetic team member to join our Packaging team as a full time Forklift Operator. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Forklift Driver will safety operate forklifts to load, unload, move, and/or stack materials. This individual will ensure strict adherence to safety protocols to ensure smooth, damage-free operations. This is a fast-paced perishable vegetable products environment where the Forklift Operator will apply their proven record of success in material handling, computer inventory, and space optimization.

Key Responsibilties

• Safely operate a forklift to pile and take down bulk product up to six pallets high.
• Safe loading and unloading of both dry and frozen freight.
• Enters data using a computer inventory management system.
• Uses handhelds and truck mounted scanners to support pallet transfers from one location to another.
• Performs daily forklift safety checks including battery changing procedures and using proper PPE.
• Organizes materials and supplies for shift start and properly stacks/stores left over materials.
• Communicates tote needs and tote issues to immediate supervisor and quality control.
• Provide coverage for forklift drivers as well as move to various areas depending on production needs.
• Accurately and properly label products, and properly fill out paperwork daily.
• Strictly adhere to all safety procedures while operating a forklift, including Lock Out/Tag Out and the use of PPE.
• Follow directions from shift Supervisor and/or Lead.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Additional Knowledge & Skills Of This Role

• Successfully pass site-specific practical and theoretical forklift training.
• Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
• This position is suggested to be a medium to heavy lifting capability role: approx. 5-25kg (11-55lbs).
• Rotating 8-hour shifts (Monday–Friday), with a bi-weekly rotation between Days, Afternoons, and Nights - open to on-call shifts including over-time.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation, and teamwork at all times including cross training others.
• Must display a strong sense of urgency, must be dependable, reliable and punctual.
• Willingness to cross-train in other departments once a full and competent operation and understanding of their respective area has been completed.
• Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of work tasks and priorities.
• Hourly wage range is $23.51 - $24.50 per hour.
