Job summary

Nortera Foods Inc. in Tecumseh, ON is seeking a highly motivated Machine Operator for the Packaging department in a fast-paced, perishable vegetable environment.

You will operate multi-function process control machinery to mix, blend, and package vegetable products and support startup/shutdown, troubleshooting, and quality compliance. Applicants should have 1–3 years of machine operating experience, be able to work in a refrigerated area, and lift up to 32 kg.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement.
• Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas.
• Rotating 8-hour shifts (Mon-Fri), bi-weekly rotation Days/Afternoons/Nights; on-call shifts incl. OT.
• Heavy lifting up to 32 kg, multiple times per shift.
• Must meet minimum dexterity requirements: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Nortera Foods Inc. in Tecumseh, ON is currently looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual to join our team as a fulltime Machine Operator supporting our Packaging department. This is a fast-paced perishable vegetable product environment where they will apply their proven track record of skills, knowledge, and leadership style that will greatly impact and contribute to our organization. The Packaging Machine Operator will operate multi-function process control machinery or single function machines to process and package vegetable products.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate multi-function and/or single function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems to mix, blend, and package vegetable food products.
• Manage start up and shut down process and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
• Adjust processing variables such as ingredient inputs, fill weight, flow rates, line speeds, and temperature settings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Operate packaging line machines safely and properly according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Maintain shift logs, record production data and other relevant information.
• Participate in safety audits, food safety programs, and emergency response initiatives.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance activities.
• Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES

• 1-3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset.

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas.
• Rotating 8-hour shifts (Monday-Friday), with a bi-weekly rotation between Days, Afternoons, and Nights open to on-call shifts including over-time.
• This position is a heavy lifting capability role (lift up to 32kgs, multiple times as needed in a shift).
• Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and willingness to learn.
• Proven ability to work diligently as a team in a fast-paced environment with tight time restrictions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
• Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hourly wage range is $24.21 - $25.20 per hour.
