Job summary

CareerBeacon seeks a Counterbalance / Reach Truck Operator in Kingston, ON, for a temporary ongoing role with potential to become permanent. Shift is Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, pay rate $21.00-$23.00/hr based on experience.

The role involves safely moving and storing materials, supporting shipping, receiving, production, and general warehouse operations while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in a busy yard and facility.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating counterbalance forklifts and reach trucks.
• Current forklift certification or completion of required company training.
• Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, distribution, or material-handling experience
• Able to read and follow shipping, receiving, and material-handling instructions
• Strong attention to detail when verifying products, quantities, labels, and documentation
• Basic computer, scanner, or warehouse management system experience considered an asset
• Experience with wire, reels, or similar materials considered an asset
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Safely operate counterbalance forklifts and reach trucks in the warehouse and yard
• Load, unload, move, and accurately place wire, reels, pallets, and other materials
• Verify product numbers, descriptions, sizes, quantities, labels, and reel information before moving or staging materials
• Inspect materials for visible damage, incorrect labelling, or discrepancies and report concerns to the supervisor
• Pull and stage orders for shipping
• Load trucks safely and verify products against shipping documentation
• Secure materials appropriately for transport
• Unload incoming shipments and stage products in designated areas
• Verify received materials and report shortages, overages, or damage
• Supply wire and materials to production or other departments as required
• Use scanners, inventory systems, paperwork, and other warehouse tools accurately
• Complete daily forklift and equipment inspections
• Maintain organized warehouse, staging, and yard areas
• Assist with yard cleanup, including organizing reels, removing debris, and keeping travel paths clear
• Support other warehouse departments as required
• Follow company procedures, operating standards, and workplace safety requirements
• Perform other related warehouse duties as assigned

The Counterbalance / Reach Truck Operator is responsible for safely moving, storing, loading, unloading, and retrieving wire, reels, pallets, and other materials throughout the warehouse and yard. This role also supports shipping, receiving, production, and general warehouse operations as required.

The position requires strong attention to detail, accurate product verification, safe equipment operation, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy warehouse and yard environment.

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions

• Able to lift, move, and handle materials weighing 50 lbs. or more as required
• Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the shift
• Able to operate forklift and warehouse equipment for extended periods
• Work is performed in both warehouse and outdoor yard environments
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Required PPE must be worn, including safety footwear, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and other designated protective equipment
• Busy warehouse and yard environment with regular equipment and material movement
