Job summary

Scotts Miracle-Gro is hiring a Forklift / PIT Operator to move and manage merchandise and pallets in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Responsibilities include operating PIT equipment, loading/unloading, and ensuring safety during stockpile handling.

You will support production with a steady materials flow, monitor stockpiles, and may perform Order Filler and Checker duties as required. A minimum of 1 year PIT experience and strong safety practices are expected.

Qualifications

• Teamwork is essential in a fast-paced warehouse setting.
• At least 1 year of experience operating a PIT or similar heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, division).
• Must be able to read and write and complete inspection forms.
• Prioritizes safety and follows pre-shift inspections and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and other equipment to move, locate, and stack merchandise.
• Move finished palleted goods and load/unload trucks and flatbeds.
• Support production with a continuous material supply and manage stockpiles.
• Turn stockpiles, monitor for heat, and ensure proper water use for stockpile prep.
• Perform Order Filler and Checker duties as needed.

The Forklift / PIT Operator is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, move around finished palleted goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds, prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, pushes or relocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. Supplies production with a continuous supply of material. Monitors the stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, extinguishes small fires and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare the stockpile for production use. The Forklift / PIT Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties.

Requisite Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team
• Must have at least one year experience operating a PIT or other heavy equipment
• Must be able to do basic math functions such as adding, subtracting and dividing
• Must be able to read and write
• Must be able to complete the pre-shift inspection forms
• Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety.
