Accountable to the Site Supervisor, the Operator, works with the site manager and supervisor(s), on a daily basis to ensure timely and accurate processes are followed in the preparation of our products and raw materials. The Plant Operator, participates as an integral member of the Canada Supply Chain team and performs duties in accordance with the mandate and priorities of Scotts Canada Ltd. Impact of recommendations, decisions and actions made by the incumbent: Low to Moderate Position Authority: The Plant Operator makes recommendations to the Site Supervisor (or designate) who makes the final decision.
The Plant Operator is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, move around finished palleted goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds, prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, pushes or relocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. Supplies production with a continuous supply of material. Monitors the stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, extinguishes small fires and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare the stockpile for production use. The Plant Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties. The Plant Operator may be required to work on holidays and weekends from time to time.
