Job summary

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is seeking a Forklift / PIT Operator to move, stack and unload merchandise, and to prepare organic mixes using heavy equipment loaders. You will push or relocate piles and ensure segregation of materials for production use, while maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.

You will also perform potential Order Filler and Checker duties, monitor stockpiles, perform pre-shift inspections, and collaborate with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team.
• Must have at least one year experience operating a PIT or other heavy equipment.
• Must be able to do basic math functions such as adding, subtracting and dividing.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must be able to complete the pre-shift inspection forms.
• Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise and unload pallets.
• Prepare organic mixes using heavy equipment loader and relocate piles to ensure production readiness.
• Monitor stockpiles for heat, turn stockpiles and manage water use for stockpile preparation.
• Perform potential Order Filler and Checker duties as required.

The Forklift / PIT Operator is responsible for operating Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), front end loaders or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, move around finished palleted goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds, prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader, pushes or relocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. Supplies production with a continuous supply of material. Monitors the stockpiles for excessive heat, turns stockpiles, extinguishes small fires and ensures the proper amount of water is used to prepare the stockpile for production use.

The Forklift / PIT Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties.
