Job summary

Spectrum Resource Group in Canada is hiring a Forestry Technician for the 2026 spring season. You will determine boundary and road layout for harvesting, assess riparian features, and collect field survey data in varying terrain.

The role requires 1 year forestry experience, a BC Class 5 license, and willingness to travel or stay away from home on scheduled periods. We offer a full benefits package, travel time pay, per diem, paid accommodations when away, and a comprehensive training program as

Qualifications

  • 1 year of Forestry-related experience.
  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or related field is an asset.
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Experience operating ATVs and pickup trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset.
  • Preference for BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel away from home for scheduled periods of time.
  • Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs.
  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.
  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • A love of the outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Determine boundary and road layout for future harvesting.

  • Traverse boundary and road locations for map creation.
  • Crossing and site plan data collection.
  • Ecology type identification and stratification.
  • Map and identify logging hazards.
  • Complete road engineering estimates and appraisal data field survey.
  • Remote camping and wilderness exploration.
  • Complete timber reconnaissance and stand level timber type stratification.
  • Assist timber cruiser in the field with data collection.
  • Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains.
  • Other duties as required.
