Job summary

ATCO Electric is seeking a field-focused vegetation management specialist to support annual programs and patrol power line rights-of-way. You will document vegetation conditions, obtain landowner permissions, and guide contractor work while ensuring safety and regulatory adherence.

The role involves cross-cultural collaboration, extensive travel, and coordination with landowners and public agencies to deliver vegetation control on schedule.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Forestry or related field with 1+ year experience; must be registered or eligible as an RPF/RPFT.
• High School Diploma with 3 years in natural resources or vegetation management and a Certified Utility Vegetation Management Professional designation (or ability to obtain within 3 years).
• Registered Professional Forester/Forest Technologist designation is an asset. Certification as a Utility Arborist is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Patrols power line ROWs, documents vegetation conditions, and recommends actions.
• Measures sites and negotiates landowner permissions for vegetation work.
• Identifies and marks danger trees and hazards.
• Negotiates landowner consent for vegetation control work.
• Supports cost estimates and right-of-way clearing for new projects.
• Monitors contractor progress, safety, and environmental performance.
