The Foreperson - Trades Mechanic is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and overseeing all municipal garage operations, ensuring the effective maintenance, repair, servicing, and lifecycle management of the City's fleet of automotive and heavy‑duty equipment. This leadership role supervises garage staff, administers preventative maintenance programs, manages budgets and operational records, supports the acquisition and replacement of vehicles and equipment, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and municipal standards. The incumbent provides technical expertise, evaluates fleet performance and repair strategies, liaises with vendors and internal stakeholders, and contributes hands‑on mechanical support while ensuring efficient, cost‑effective, and reliable fleet operations.
