Job summary

Royal Ottawa Health Care Group in Ottawa, Ontario seeks a licensed psychotherapist to provide psychotherapeutic services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Psychologist within a forensic treatment setting.

The role involves conducting cognitive and risk assessments, developing treatment programs, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and teaching/mentoring students while staying current with professional standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s in clinical psychology from an accredited university.
• Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) is required.
• Knowledge of psychometric tests and assessment procedures for forensic populations.
• Experience with individual and group therapies and/or assessments.
• Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
• Understanding of forensic mental health and vulnerabilities in this population.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to conduct assessments with varying levels of cognitive ability.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Psychotherapy Act, Substitute Decisions Act, CCC, CSA.
• Strong communication with clients, family and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychotherapeutic services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Psychologist.
• Conduct psychological assessments including cognitive and risk assessments.
• Develop and implement psychotherapeutic treatment programs utilizing various techniques.
• Provide consultation and education to clients.
• Maintain knowledge by reviewing literature, attending workshops, and consulting with colleagues.
• Participate in teaching and education of students from health-related disciplines.
• Participate in research (data collection, analysis) as directed.
• Contribute to the goals of the Forensic Treatment Unit Program.
