Job summary

The Royal is seeking a Clinical Psychologist with specialized forensic expertise to provide evaluations, risk assessments, and evidence-based interventions for adults under forensic care in Ontario. You will collaborate with treatment teams, supervise staff, and contribute to program development within the Integrated Forensic Program.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in psychology, be registered or eligible in Ontario, and demonstrate recovery-oriented practice with strong teamwork and research

Qualifications

  • Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Authorized areas of practice in Clinical Psychology and in Forensic Psychology.
  • Authorized client population: adults.
  • Experience or interest in recovery-oriented practices and risk assessment in forensic settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological/psychodiagnostics evaluations and risk assessments for individuals with severe mental illness found not criminally responsible or unfit to stand trial to inform the Ontario Review Board and treatment teams.
  • Provide case consultation, training, and clinical supervision to staff to support adherence to forensic mental health best practices.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based forensic programs within the Integrated Forensic Program.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and validate data collection and dissemination.
  • Conduct research and program evaluation activities, including grant proposals, presentations, publications, and dissemination of findings.
  • Provide direct and indirect clinical care, including diagnostic and risk assessments, and evidence-based individual and group interventions for forensic populations.
  • Function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in academic activities, including supervision of psychology practicum students, residents, and psychology staff.
  • Demonstrate leadership and collaboration through participation in corporate, program, and discipline-specific initiatives.
  • Support continuous quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and teamwork.
  • Maintain professional integrity through adherence to College and hospital standards, ethical guidelines, professional practice requirements, documentation standards, and workload measurement expectations.
  • Work in compliance with staff and patient/client safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Foster a workplace aligned with The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment and Discrimination Free Workplace policy.
