Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Vermilion Health Centre is seeking a Food Service I to support patient and resident meals and ensure high-quality service and sanitation.

Responsibilities include basic food preparation, packaging and portioning, serving meals, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment and serving areas; shifts vary including days, evenings, nights and weekends. This casual/relief role requires Grade 10 and physical ability to lift and stand for shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physically capable to lift up to 46 lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250 lbs.
• Must be able to walk and stand for the duration of the shift.

Responsibilities

Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in a hospital or long- term care environment.
• Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing “First in- First Out” procedures.

• Food Safe Certificate or equivalent.
