Job summary

SSP Canada operates multiple restaurants inside Billy Bishop Airport. The Food Service Associate role focuses on delivering excellent guest experiences by efficiently handling transactions, serving customers, and maintaining a welcoming dining atmosphere while upholding SSP standards.

You will greet guests, prepare and assemble items safely, restock supplies, process orders through the POS system, and handle payments with accuracy.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a food service environment is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Verbal and written communication is essential.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and POS transactions.
• Food handlers permit is an asset; Smart Serve certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Prepare and assemble food items safely and efficiently.
• Restock food, beverages, cups, lids, condiments, and supplies.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment and provide correct change.
• Set up, maintain, clean, and break down machinery/equipment.
• Complete opening, ongoing, and closing checklists as required.

Here are a few things you can expect as a Food Service Associate at SSP Canada:

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner
• Prepare and assemble foods items safely and effeciently
• Restock food, beverages, cups, lids, condiments, and other supplies as needed
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS systemReceive payment from the customer and process change
• Responsible for set-up, regular maintenance, cleaning, and break-down of any machinery and equipment
• Complete opening, on-going, and closing checklists as required

Skills and Other Requirements:

• One year experience working in food service environment is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma preferred
• Verbal and written communication is essential
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, etc.
• Food handlers permit an asset
• Smart Serve Certification required
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items
• Ability to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance
