Job Description
Position Purpose:

The Food Security Community Service Worker supports food-related programs at Boundless Vancouver by managing resources, assisting with food donations, volunteer coordination, sorting, prep, redistribution, and clean-up. They will also handle non-food donations, use technology for inventory, and perform duties aligned with our core values, ensuring safety and excellent customer service. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating services, working independently, and being highly organized.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise volunteers for food redistribution.
  • Network with community partners and participate in weekly food procurement.
  • Utilize food programs and resources to foster community hope.
  • Support donation pickups and community outreach.
  • Unload and sort donations safely.
  • Drive a cube van for food rescues in the absence of other drivers.
  • Respond to neighbor requests and handle complaints appropriately.
  • Follow policies on quality assurance, safety, sanitation, and infection control.
  • Perform food handling, serving, and cooking duties if necessary.
Relationships:

Internal: Leadership, staff, donors, volunteers; External: Community, clients

Reporting:

Reports to: Operations Manager; No direct reports.

Conditions:
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • May interact with upset individuals or challenging behaviors.
  • Temporary Full-Time, 35 hours/week, Monday–Friday, flexible schedule, from May 20 to August 22, 2025.
Qualifications:
  • Age 15–30, Canadian citizen or eligible resident, with valid SIN.
  • Experience or education in nutrition; FoodSafe certification is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license; experience driving a cube van is an asset.
  • Knowledge of food security issues, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multitask and problem-solve, and physical ability to perform labor.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks.
Compensation:

Range: $17.85 to $21.66, up to $25.99, based on experience and qualifications. Reasonable accommodations available upon request.
