Job summary

Canad Inns Brandon is seeking a Food and Beverage Manager to oversee the restaurant, lounge, and banquet operations, driving revenue while maintaining service standards and guest satisfaction.

You will lead hiring, scheduling, training and cost control, ensure LGCA compliance, and partner with department heads to deliver exceptional events and daily dining experiences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time management, and leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of labour costs, food costs, KPIs, and day-to-day Food & Beverage operations.
  • Inventory management experience would be considered an asset.
  • Strong technology skills, with proficiency in various software platforms.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Flexible and adaptable to constant change
  • This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and maximize revenue opportunities in both the restaurant and banquet areas.
  • Oversee daily operations across the restaurant, bar, banquets, and room service, ensuring exceptional service standards.
  • Manage operational performance and cost control, including inventory management, labor optimization, and overall expense oversight.
  • Approve and monitor schedules for the restaurant and banquets; prepare schedules according to business volumes.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff, ensuring customer service-focused performance.
  • Mentor and develop staff, providing ongoing training and support.
  • Oversee planning and execution of banquets and events; participate in event order meetings.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the front of the house for cleanliness and standards compliance.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Adhere to LGCA regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Participate in weekly department head meetings.

Job description

The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for the successful operation of all food and beverage revenue centers within the hotel, including banquets, the restaurant(s), and the lounge. This role involves overseeing all aspects of each department to ensure adherence to standards, while maximizing revenues and achieving guest satisfaction goals. The Food and Beverage Manager is also accountable for staffing, training, scheduling, inventory control, and cost management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and maximize revenue opportunities in both the restaurant and banquet areas. Foster a revenue-focused culture and instill this mindset in all areas of Food & Beverage. Create action plans to achieve financial results for all Food & Beverage revenue centers.
  • Oversee daily operations across the restaurant, bar, banquets, and room service, ensuring exceptional service standards, consistent food quality, efficient staffing, and a positive guest experience.
  • Manage operational performance and cost control, including inventory management, labor optimization, and overall expense oversight, to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Approve and monitor schedules for the restaurant and banquets. The Food and Beverage Manager will prepare the schedules according to business volumes in all departments to ensure optimal coverage and service levels, while achieving overall labor targets.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff, ensuring they are customer service-focused and equipped with the skills needed to excel in their roles.
  • Mentor and develop staff, providing ongoing training and support to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of banquets and events, ensuring all details are handled professionally and to the highest standards. Participate in event order meetings as required to review upcoming events and functions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the front of the house to ensure cleanliness and adherence to standards.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Adhere to all Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA)regulations and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Participate in weekly department head meetings.
