Fairbanks Morse Defense Handling is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of Naval Handling Equipment programs.

In this role, you will help shape complex, mission-critical systems from initial requirements through design, validation, and field support. You will specify, design, and validate sophisticated electrical subsystems, including the high-level requirements for software and hardware system components. Working closely with other engineering disciplines, you will translate system needs into effective, testable electrical designs that meet demanding technical and performance standards.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyses and translates high level requirements and applicable standards into electrical design requirements
  • Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective electrical design
  • Designs and implements electrical designs to meet requirements including their testability
  • Develops and reviews electrical tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the electrical requirements have been satisfied
  • Analyses verification test results against electrical requirement; produces reports and associated documentation
  • Manages testing at third-party test house(s)
  • Supports system level testing at our facility and in the field
  • Supports operations / supply chain as well as quality to address product related technical deficiencies
  • Supports transformation and improvement projects as agreed with the engineering and business leadership
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • A recognized electrical engineering degree and license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
  • Work experience of at least 5 years, preferably in the electrical field
  • Proficiency in English with a high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with industrial control systems (PLC, HMI), and CAD software would be advantageous
  • Must be Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada for greater than 5 years.
  • Able to obtain NATO security clearance (Secret Level) through Canadian Contract Security Program.
