Job summary

Canfor Green Energy in Grande Prairie, AB, is seeking a Plant Operator, 4th Class Power Engineer, to join our operations team. You will maintain safe, efficient plant performance, conduct rounds, test water, and support reliability and safety initiatives in a heavy industry setting.

Qualifications include a 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer certification, solid fuel firing experience (asset), maintenance experience (asset), and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer certification is required.
• Mechanical aptitude with solid fuel firing experience (an asset).
• Maintenance experience (an asset).
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Previous experience in heavy equipment operations (an asset).

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety of the plant and personnel.
• Operating plant equipment in the field for optimal performance.
• Keeping the Shift Engineer informed with accurate plant status updates and promptly identifying issues.
• Performing regular plant rounds and inspections.
• Identifying and suggesting improvements on a shift-to-shift basis.
• Participating in balancing shift priorities.
• Monitoring issues and status throughout the shift.
• Completing rounds using established check sheets for inspection.
• Conducting water tests each shift and entering results into the online database.
• Performing lockouts on required equipment.
• Demonstrating motivation to obtain a 3rd Class Power Engineering Ticket.
• Supporting business areas and systems with a focus on reliability and safety.
