Job summary

Agilus Work Solutions in Fort St. John, British Columbia, is seeking a Plant Operator for the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will monitor and operate the plant from a control room, conduct equipment surveillance, and keep accurate operations logs.

This is a 12-month contract with a 14 days on/14 days off schedule (12-hour days) and a fly-in or drive-in option. Compensation is $50.00–$55.00 hourly, with health and safety standards aligned to COP's HSE program.

Qualifications

• Senior level with 7+ years of experience.
• Power Engineering Level 4 required.
• Able to apply extensive knowledge to a wide variety of situations.
• Recommends solutions to complex problems.
• Leads technical/functional area coordination but not a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate the plant from the control room.
• Surveil operating equipment and document logs.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance and perform inspections.
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement changes.
• Support COP HSE policies and programs.

A typical day:

• Responsibly and consistently monitors and operates the plant through a control room.
• Conducts surveillance of operating equipment and critical parameters, while keeping accurate operations logs.
• May prepare equipment for maintenance and perform maintenance and preventative inspections.
• Identifies improvement opportunities and work with others to implement changes.
• Supports and complies with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of COP's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.

Successful candidates will have:

• Provides more technical support than administrative support.
• Typically viewed as a technical/functional specialist in discipline.
• Ability to apply extensive knowledge and experience to a wide variety of situations.
• Recommends solutions to complex problems.
• Performs major accountabilities.
• Typically acts as a lead in the technical/functional area, coordinating the work of others, but is not a supervisor.
• Senior level, typically 7+ years of experience.
• Must have at least a Power Engineering Level 4
